PROJECT SCOPE

Marine General Contractor; Installation of 1,500 linear feet of bulkhead and toe pins; dredging of the bulkhead extension area; backfill and compaction of a 19,000-square-foot bulkhead extension; new fendering system; utility upgrades.

CHALLENGES & HIGHLIGHTS

The project replaces a steel bulkhead installed in 1974 after inspections found it at the end of its useful life. The work includes dredging, bulkhead installation, backfill and compaction, fendering, and utility upgrades on an active commercial fishing waterfront.

OUR RESULTS

Work began in May 2025 and is scheduled for completion in February 2027. Once complete, the rebuilt facility will provide berthing and mooring space for offshore wind installation and maintenance vessels alongside New Bedford’s commercial fishing fleet.
