Conley Terminal Project

PROJECT SCOPE

Marine General Contractor & Subcontractor Phase 2 – D.W. White Construction; 1,200 linear feet of king pile bulkhead installation; demolition of existing marine structures; approximately 900 steel pipe piles, 26–30 inches in diameter and 60–105 feet long; barge-mounted pile driving with drilled rock sockets; Berminghammer L27 Vertical Travel Lead system with integrated GPS positioning.

CHALLENGES & HIGHLIGHTS

The three-phase project required deep foundation work from a barge, drilled rock sockets where overburden was thin, and precise pile placement using GPS positioning. The Berminghammer L27 system cut installation time by roughly half.

OUR RESULTS

Conley Terminal’s deck and wharf construction finished ahead of schedule, Massport’s new ship-to-shore cranes were operational ahead of target, and the project earned ENR’s Best Project of the Year recognition for the New York and New England region.
